The SMU women's soccer team welcomed 10 freshmen into the Mustang family, adding

Avery Ortmann,
Allie Thornton,
Mary Meehan,
Katina Tsapos,
Jessica Cooley and
Robyn Maurer. Meehan, from Southlake, Texas, is next in our series introducing fans to these 10 new Mustangs.
Meehan has seen action in all 12 games for the Mustangs, and has logged 475 minutes. She recorded her first assist and first collegiate-point against Saint Louis, before posting her first career goal and second assist at UCF. She has tallied five shots this season with two on frame.
In high school, Meehan played club for the 98 D'Feeters ECNL Girls team, while earning three letters at Carroll Senior High School under Matt Colvin. With the D'Feeters, Meehan helped the team qualify for the National Playoffs in 2014 and 2015. While at Carroll High School, the Dragons were 5-A Regional Finalist and District Champions in 2014 and 2015. In her high school career, Meehan scored 20 goals and had 18 assists. She was the team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
My biggest strengths as a soccer player: My work ethic and versatility.
Favorite/best moment in your soccer career: Deciding to play soccer for SMU.
What's one word you would use to describe this year's team? Hungry
What's going to be one of the greatest strengths of this year's team? One of the greatest team strengths this year is going to be our work ethic.
How have your teammates and coaches helped you become acclimated to college? My teammates and coaches have helped me easily transition into college with their patience, understanding, and eagerness to help in any way they can.
If not soccer, what sport/activity would you be doing instead? Basketball
Why I Chose SMU: I chose SMU for its innovative curriculum, the Cox School of Business, and the phenomenal women's soccer coaching staff.
My favorite part of SMU/Dallas so far: The cordial students, faculty, and staff.
