Alexandra "Lexi" Nordmann Signs To Play Volleyball At SMU

DALLAS (SMU) – Alexandra "Lexi" Nordmann, a 2016 second-team Under Armour All-America selection, has signed to play volleyball at SMU, head coach Lisa Seifert announced.
Nordmann, a four-year letterwinner at DeWitt High School in DeWitt, Mich., holds school records in kills and blocks, and was a first-team all-state selection as a senior. She was named to the all-conference and all-region all four years. She earned all-academic honors in each of her first three season. Nordmann finished third in the Miss Michigan Volleyball rankings, and was selected to the Lansing State Journal Dream Team in both 2014 and 2015. She was also a finalist for the newspaper's Player of the Year.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of Lexi Nordmann to the SMU volleyball family. Not only is she a prototypical middle blocker, but she also is an amazing student and person," Seifert explained. "She will fit into our culture well as she works extremely hard, is passionate about being the best both in the classroom and on the court and is incredibly respectful of all people. I have no doubt that she will make an immediate impact."
The 6-1 middle blocker finished with 269 blocks as a junior, ranking third in season in the Michigan High School Athletic Association, and is eight all-time on the single-match list with a career-high 39 kills. She was selected to the Class A All-State Second Team as a junior in 2015. Nordmann led DeWitt High School to its first district title as a freshman in 2014, winning the district championship in each of her three season.
Nordmann comes from a family of athletes. Her father, Matt, played basketball at the United States Naval Academy and at George Washington University. Her aunt, Andrea Nordmann, played basketball at Bowling Green, and her uncle, Eric Nordmann played at Alma College and Central Michigan. Her grandfather, Bob Nordmann, spent five seasons in the NBA.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, and will graduate in the top 10 in her high school class. Nordmann played club volleyball for the Michigan Elite under Vince Muscat, and finished eighth at the AAU Nationals in 2016 and 10th in 2015. In 2014, she led her U15 team to a state championship.
