DALLAS - SMU alumnus Emmanuel Sanders was part of Denver's Super Bowl 50-winning team on Sunday, as Denver topped the Carolina Panthers 24-10.
Sanders led all receivers with six receptions for 83 yards in the Big Game. Super Bowl 50 was Sanders' second appearance in a Super Bowl, he also played in Super Bowl XLV as part of the Pittsburgh Steelers, hauling in two catches for 17 yards.
SMU alumni have now claimed 18 Super Bowl wins and have made 28 Super Bowl appearances.
Sanders was named an Honorable Mention All-American by SI.com following the 2009 season. The first-team All-Conference USA performer ranks as SMU's all-time leader in career catches, TD catches and yards. In his final collegiate game, Sanders had seven catches for 124 yards and a score in helping SMU to a 45-10 win over Nevada in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, SMU's first bowl win in 25 years.
This season, Sanders caught 76 passes for 1,135 yards and six touchdowns.
