March 26, 2016 Round 3 Results 
PALO ALTO, Calif. (SMU) - The No. 31 SMU men's golf team finished 11th at The Goodwin Saturday, at the Stanford University golf course.
SMU shot 8-over par in the final round to finish 22-over par (862). UC Davis won the tournament at 13-under (827). No. 33 UNLV claimed second place at 3-under (837), while host school, No. 8 Stanford, carded a three-day 839 (-1) to take third.
"We are disappointed as a group with our finish," SMU head coach Jason Enloe said. "Gray [Townsend] was the only guy who played up to his potential this weekend."
"We will just have to regroup and get ready for our next event," Enloe added. "Hopefully the guys will rebound with a good finish to the year."
In his second top-25 performance of the season, sophomore Gray Townsend shot even par in the third round to bring his total score to 212 (+2). Townsend climbed five positions on the player leaderboard to finish tied for 17th, matching second-ranked Maverick McNealy of Stanford and the 51st-ranked Sean Crocker of Southern California. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native finished 12 stroked back of tournament-champion Luke Vivolo of UC Davis (-10, 200). Townsend finished the tournament with 11 birdies and two eagles.
After shooting a third-round 74, senior Austin Smotherman tied for 41st (+6, 216), four strokes behind Townsend. The Loomis, Calif., native finished the tournament with six birdies and an eagle.
Senior Ryan Burgess moved 18 spots up the leaderboard to tie for 63rd (+9, 219). Burgess finished the tournament with eight birdies. Andrew Buchanan provided the Mustangs' final counting score, shooting a 3-over 73. Buchanan finished with eight birdies over the three-day tournament, carding four in the final round, respectively. Alex Higgs finished tied for 94th (+13, 223). The junior carded five total birdies and an eagle.
The Mustangs will next compete at the Mason Rudolph Championship, April 2-3, at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The tournament field consists of 14 teams, including American Athletic Conference opponent Memphis.
