Bryce Klein and
Lauren Lamb wrapped up competition at the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Thursday with Klein representing the Mustangs on 1 meter, and Lamb competing on 1 and 3 meter, as well as platform.
Klein posted NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both rounds of 1 meter, finishing fourth in preliminary action (336.95) before climbing two spots to earn silver with a six-round 354.00. The junior was slated to compete in all three events, but due to illness was unable.
"Bryce is battling a severe head cold, but managed to persevere to finish second in a contest against the best of the SEC," head diving coach
Jim Stillson said. "He did an awesome job of not letting his feeling poor distract him from the job at hand. I am very proud of him for competing so well."
Lamb earned her highest finish of the event on platform, finishing 35th with a five-round score of 147.70.
She also finished 47th on 1 meter day two of the event registering a final total of 178.10, and was 50th on 3 meter with a 182.80.
"Lauren competed in tough fields all week and got some much needed experience in difficult competition," Stillson said.
"This is an excellent event to start the second half of the season," Stillson concluded.
The Mustang men take on Incarnate Word Jan. 11 in San Antonio and will host Texas A&M Jan. 27, while the women travel to College Station, Texas, to take on the Aggies Jan. 20.
