HOUSTON (SMU) – Junior
Gray Townsend fired a 2-under-par 70 in the final round of the All-American Intercollegiate Sunday to finish tied for 17th overall. Townsend led the SMU men's golf team, as the Mustangs shot 5-over-par (293) in the final round to finish tied for 11th overall (291-294-293 – 878).
Townsend, a Winston-Salem, N.C., native finished the three-day tournament at 2-under-par (70-74-70 — 214). The junior climbed eight spots on the leaderboard on day three to record his second top-25 finish this season. Townsend finished the tournament with 10 birdies.
Senior
Alex Higgs finished tied for 37th overall. He finished the tournament 3-over-par (70-74-75 – 219).
Daniel Connolly and
Maxime Blandin finished tied for 46th and tied for 67th, respectively. Connolly finished 4-over-par (73-73-74—220), while Blandin was 9-over (78-73-74—225).
SMU returns to action Feb. 27-28, as the Mustangs head to Westlake Village, Calif., to compete in the Pepperdine-hosted Southwestern Invitational.
