Heuer Appointed to NCAA Division I Interpretations Committee

Four-Year Appointment Begins Sept. 1

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Assistant A.D. for Compliance Rob Heuer has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Interpretations Committee. Heuer's term of service on the committee will begin Sept. 1, 2017, and continue through Aug. 31, 2021.

"I'm honored to represent SMU and the American Athletic Conference on the Division I Interpretations Committee," said Heuer. "I want to also say thank you to the AAC and the Nominating Committee for this appointment. I look forward to serving the NCAA membership in this role and eagerly await the start of my term in September."

The committee is responsible for interpreting Division I legislation consistent with the intent of the rule and original rationale. The committee is also charged with approving all interpretations issued by the NCAA national office staff. The issues are generally very broad, covering most topical areas and can come either directly from the NCAA staff or from an institution or conference as an appeal of a NCAA staff interpretation.

Heuer joined SMU in December 2013. He previously served in athletics compliance roles at Akron, Colorado, and Marshall. He serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and he is the Chair of the NAAC Convention Committee.
