SALEM, S.C. (SMU) – The SMU men's golf team climbed to fourth place at the Clemson Invitational, following a 3-under-par 285 on day two. Senior
Andrew Buchanan and freshman
Daniel Connolly are tied for fourth and 16th, respectively, after pacing the Mustangs with a pair of 4-under-par 68s on Saturday.
Buchanan carded an unblemished front-nine that featured birdies on holes three and five to take a 2-under advantage into the turn. Following his only blemish on the day, a bogie on No. 11, he recorded three birdies on the back half to finish the day. The senior climbed 11 positions on the leaderboard to take a tied for fourth-place stance into the final round. He is currently 1-under-par (75-68—143) through two days.
Connolly (+2, 78-68—146) opened the day with consecutive birdies on holes five and six. Following a bogie on hole No. 8, the San Francisco native erased his only blemish of the day with a birdie on the ninth hole. The freshman fired an unblemished, 2-under back-nine to finish the round.

Gray Townsend are both tied for 28th following day two. Markham (+7, 77-74—151) carded a 2-over-par 74 on day two, while Townsend (+7, 76-75—151) finished 3-over-par (75).
Alex Higgs (+11, 78-77—155) is tied for 41st following day two.
No. 18 Clemson leads the event at 2-under-par (294-280—574), while No. 21 Georgia Tech (+3, 296-283—579) and No. 38 Alabama (+6, 298-284—582) round out the top three. Through 36 holes of play, SMU is currently 15-over-par (306-285—591).
