Box Score DALLAS (SMU) – After battling in doubles play and fighting back in singles, the SMU men's tennis team (1-1) fell to Harvard (1-0), 4-3, on Friday at the SMU Tennis Complex.

SMU is now 2-2 all-time against the Crimson with a 0-1 record at home.

The Mustangs looked strong early as Eladio Fabregas and Gardiner Perotti defeated Harvard's Grant Soloman and Christopher Morrow, 6-1, in the No. 3 doubles spot. In No. 2 doubles, Charles Nettlefold and Roberto Rosales lost to Jean Thirouin/Andy Zhou, 7-5, to even doubles play.

No. 1 doubles quickly turned into a hard-fought battle between Jan-Simon Vrbsky/Tomas Vaise and Kenny Tao/Logan Weber. After forcing an 11-9 tie break, the Harvard duo ultimately defeated Vrbsky and Vaise, 7-6.

Harvard claimed a second point when Robert Wrzesinksi defeated Roberto Rosales, 2-6, 0-6, in the singles No. 4 spot. SMU was able to even the score with victories from Jan-Simon Vrbsky at No. 1 (6-4, 6-2) and Eladio Fabregas at No. 5 (6-2, 7-5).

Thomas Vaise became the third Mustang to earn a win in singles play with a 7-6 (7), 6-4 defeat of Harvard's Andy Zhou on court two, but the Crimson won the remaining two matches to pull ahead and take the match, 4-3.

The Mustangs take only a short break, returning to action on Sunday at No. 8 Texas for their first road test of the season. SMU aims to earn its first victory against the Longhorns since 2001.
