Dallas (SMU) --- The Mustangs take their 6-2-1 record up against the UConn Huskies in a 1 p.m. American Athletic Conference game at Westcott Field.

-Head Coach Chris Petrucelli sits just one victory shy of the 400-win plateau. In his seventh season at the helm of the Mustangs, Petrucelli currently stands at 399 career victories. -For the second time this season, Courtney Sebazco was named Rookie of the Week by the American Athletic Conference. Sebazco is just the third AAC player to be honored more than once with Rookie of the Week. The Fort Worth, Texas native had her first award-winning weekend against Rice and TCU, scoring a pair of goals. Two weeks later, Sebazco registered a multi-goal game against FIU, including one coming on a penalty kick. The freshman leads the Mustangs in goals and shots on goals. Sebazco added her fifth goal against Northern Colorado.

-Freshman Celiana Torres is the Mustang's leader in points with 11 through nine games. Torres scored the game-winning goal in the win over Temple. With Sebazco, the Mustangs have two freshman with 10+ points.

-The Mustangs have taken advantage of early goals throughout the season. In half their games, the Mustangs have put up a pair of goals before the game is even a third of the way done. Against the FIU Panthers, SMU scored twice before the five-minute mark, the quickest to a pair of goals for the Mustang since 2016 against Tulsa.

-The Mustangs were picked to finish fifth in the American Athletic Conference with junior Allie Thornton being named preseason All-Conference by the league's coaches.

ABOUT UCONN –  Connecticut is fresh off a conference-opening defeat at the hands of the Houston Cougars, 2-3, on Thursday. The game featured four goals after the 53rd minute. For the season, the Huskies have a 2-8 record and have dropped their last three games. Individually, Erin Spillane leads the Huskie offense with seven points, three goals and two assists. On the other end, defender Liane Keegans has played all 900 minutes on the season. Keeper Randi Palacios has played all but one half in goal with a 2.42 GAA and a .681 save percentage.
