MEET RESULTS
HOUSTON (SMU) –
Hannah Miller won both the mile and the 5000 meters to highlight SMU Track & Field's weekend performance at the Houston Invitational inside Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Miller started the weekend off with an outstanding showing in the 5000 meter. The junior ran a 16:22.83 to easily win the event and break the meet record. In the mile on Saturday, the Ivercargill, New Zealand native again was first among competitors, finishing in a time of 4:54.93. That puts Miller as the second best time in the conference this season. Miller is the reigning conference champion in the 3000 and 5000 meters.
Senior
Svenja Ojstersek finished in second, trailing only Miller in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:47.16.
Anneke Grogan placed fifth running a 17:40.19, she would also finish in the seventh spot in the mile run.
Robin Montemayor and
Olivia Lackner ran in eighth and 11
th respectively in the 5000.
Chelsea Francis took home the top spot in the 60 m, running a time of 7.28, 0.22 up on the next closest runner.
Jordanae Scott just missed qualifying for the final with a 7.65 and
Alexis Center ran a 7.76.

Chika Iwuamadi ran a new collegiate PR in the 200 meter with a time of 24.40. The Mustang freshman finished in fourth while Scott placed in eighth and
Ashton Woods in 17
th. Â
Madison Pyle was the Mustang's lone representative in the 800 m, finishing in fifth with a time of 2:16.45.Â
Jacy Sparks set a PR with a 9.48 in her first attempt at the 60 meter hurdles.

The SMU 4x400 relay team of
Ashton Woods,
Jordanae Scott,
Brooke Shepherd and
Madison Pyle ran a 3:54.74 in the day's final event, finishing in fourth among the 16 teams.

In the field events,
Cassie Ackemann recorded a height of 1.65 and finished the high jump in sixth.
Kennedy Godsey led the Mustangs with a 15.65m in the weight throw while
Daniella Murchison led the way in the shot put, throwing 12.92.
Freshman
Olivia Witt participated in the Mustang's first Pentathlon of the season. Witt made up ground with a 2:27.44 in the 800, second best in that event, and finished in 10
th overall with a score of 3180.

After a week off, the Mustangs return to the track on Friday Feb. 8. The team will be split between the Tyson Invitational (Fayetteville, Ark.) and the Music City Challenge (Nashville).
