HOUSTON (SMU) – SMU Track & Field heads to Houston for the first outdoor event of the season at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational on Thursday March 14.

The meet will begin with field events at 10 a.m. from the University of Houston's Tom Tellez Track. The running events that feature Mustangs begin at 1:35 p.m. and run through the evening. The Spring Break Invite is one of seven regular season events this season that SMU is slated to participate in.

The Mustangs return four of their six all-conference athletes from their 2018 outdoor campaign. Hannah Miller was all-conference in the 10,000 and 5,000 while Chelsea Francis won bronze in the 100m and 200m. Atipa Mabonga was a silver medalist in the Triple Jump and Svenja Ojstersek won silver in the 10,000. Â

SMU finished in fifth at the conference championship and placed five athletes in eight total entries across six events into the NCAA West Prelims.
Â
The Mustangs had two qualifiers for the NCAA Championship in Tochi Nlemchi and Latessa Johnson. Nlemechi finished in 16th in the shot put earning All-American status in the last event of her Mustang career.
