SMU women's tennis prepares for a Sunday doubleheader from the SMU Tennis Complex. The Mustangs will face Northwestern State at 11 a.m. before taking on Abilene Christian at 4 p.m.
 
The Mustangs are coming off a 6-1 Friday win over Dartmouth. The Mustangs cruised to a doubles point victory with wins on line one and three. In singles, the Mustangs racked up five points including three in straight sets to take down Dartmouth. Sunday will mark the first doubleheader of the Mustangs 2019 season.
 
The 2019 schedule for the Mustangs has been full of elite programs. Of the first 14 matches they've played, 10 came against teams currently ranked in the ITA to- 50. In the four non-ranked matchups, the Mustangs have three sweeps and one 6-1 victory.
 
Anzhelika Shapovalova leads the Mustangs during the Spring season with an 11-4 dual match record.  Liza Buss has played the majority of line one for the Mustangs recording a 7-7 dual match record and recording five ranked wins over the course of the full season. Tiffany Hollebeck and Karina Traxler have combined for eight doubles wins while playing at line three.
 
ABOUT NORTHWESTERN STATE
The Lady Demons come to Dallas riding a 7-game winning streak and holding a 13-2 record on the season. Most recently, Northwestern State won both ends of a doubleheader on Friday against Lamar and Prairie View A&M. The Demons are fueled by a deep team that has had tremendous success from the higher lines. They have a 11-1 record at lines six and three as well as a 13-2 record at line four. Judit Castillo leads the team with a a 12-2 record. The doubles pairing of Castillo and Emilija Dancetovic have a 12-2 record. The Demons have a perfect 10-0 record at home and 3-2 mark away from their home venue.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Mustangs and Lady Demons have faced each other six previous times, meeting every year since 2013. SMU holds a 5-1 mark with the lone blemish coming in 2016. The other six meeting have included  a pair of Mustang sweeps and three victories where they've conceded just one point. Last season, SMU swept the doubles point with wins on each court. They would drop one match in singles but would win the other five with victories from Shapovalova, Traxler, Perez-Lopex, Petchey and Hollebeck
 
ABOUT ABILENE CHRISTIAN
ACU holds an 8-7 record during the 2019 season and are currently on a four-match winning streak. Sarah Adams and Nini Memishishi have split line one duties for the Wildcats and have combined for a 5-10 line one mark. The pair are also ACU's marquee doubles pairing holding a 5-4 record at the top spot this season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Mustangs hold a spotless 11-0 record when facing ACU including wins in each of the last four seasons. In 2018, the Mustangs recorded a 4-1 win over the Wildcats. Shapovalova, Perez-Lopez and Karina Traxler all recorded victories for SMU in the match. The closest ACU has come to beating the Mustangs came in 2010 with SMU winning 4-3. ACU is the Mustangs most common opponent that SMU has yet to lose to, facing off against ACU two more times than they've faced UTSA (9-0).
