SMU plays three matches in Springfield, Mo., Friday and Saturday at the Missouri State University Fall Invitational. The Mustangs play the first match of the tournament Friday at 10 a.m. against Dayton. The Flyers defeated No. 14 Michigan in five sets at home in their last match. SMU's match against host Missouri State can be seen on ESPN+ at 5 p.m. The Mustangs take on Weber State Saturday at 10 a.m.

FAMILIAR FACES
• The Mustangs return four of six starters and the libero from last season. Montana Watts became just the second player in program history with at least 600 digs in multiple seasons. Meryn Kennedy led the team with 111 blocks, and setters Lily Heim and Kendall Patterson combined for 12.27 assists per set.

ANOTHER MILESTONE
• Head coach Lisa Seifert earned her 400th win at SMU when the Mustangs defeated Oral Roberts, 3-2, on Sept. 5, 2019. She is just the third SMU head coach to amass 400 wins on the Hilltop, following long-time women's basketball head coach Rhonda Rompola and men's tennis head coach Carl Neufeld, both of whom have since retired.

GAINING MOMENTUM
• In the past 10 seasons, Seifert's teams have won 204 matches, including the program's first NCAA Tournament victory with a 3-0 win against Texas A&M in 2016. The decade includes six 20-win seasons, including a program-record 27 wins in 2015. SMU won back-to-back conference championships in 2015 and 2016, and made three straight postseason appearances.

SMU IN 2019
• SMU enters the MSU Fall Invitational with a 4-1 record, including three wins in straight sets. The Mustangs' only loss came in five sets against Stephen F. Austin in the championship match of the SMU DoubleTree Invitation. The young squad lost both the first and fifth sets by two points.
• Freshman Mekenzie Heckmann leads the team with 3.78 kills per set after scoring 37 in the last two matches and 68 total. She is hitting .276 overall, with a .432 attack percentage against Incarnate Word.
• Sophomore Hannah Jacobs is hitting .252 with 3.53 kills per set. She is the only SMU player with double-digit kills in all five matches. Jacobs has 67 kills, trailing Heckmann by just one for the team lead.
• Senior Montana Watts ranks in the top five in The American with 4.79 digs per set. She was named to the conference Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 5.36 digs in three matches on opening weekend.
• Sophomore setter Lily Heim leads The American with 11.42 assists per set. She recorded a career-high 55 assists in five sets against SFA, and had 40 assists in three sets against Incarnate Word.
• Sophomore Rachel Woulfe is averaging 2.63 kills per set with a .215 attack percentage. She scored a season-high 18 kills against SFA and had 12 at Oral Roberts.
• Junior Meryn Kennedy leads the team with 1.05 blocks per set with 20 total. She also leads the team with a .413 attack percentage and has 35 kills.

ALL-TIME SERIES
• Dayton (0-0)
This is the first meeting between the Mustangs and the flyers.
• Missouri State (0-1)
The Bears won the only match in the series, 3-0, on Aug. 27, 2011. The neutral-site match was played in Norman, Okla.
• Weber State (2-0)
SMU is 2-0 all-time against the Wildcats. The first contest took place in Utah on Sept. 1, 2000, with SMU winning 3-1. The Mustangs went 3-0 in the season-opening tournament. SMU hosted Weber State a year later, winning 3-2 in Moody Coliseum in the second match of the season.
