HOME SWEET HOME
No. 8/2 SMU returns home to Westcott Field after a three-game road trip for Tuesday's match with Central Arkansas. SMU is unbeaten at home this season and haven't lost at Westcott since September 14, 2018. Dating back to the start of the 2017 season, the Mustangs are 24-3-1 at the friendly confines of Westcott Field.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Mustangs improved to 8-0-0 on the season on Sept. 28 when they beat Tulsa 5-1 in their conference opener. Gabriel Costa shined in the victory. The midfielder scored twice and was credited with two assists. Eddie Munjoma scored and assisted on a goal, and now  is tied for the AAC lead with 17 points. GK Shane Lanson is now 6-0 on the season, with a GAA of 0.32.
PULSE OF THE POLLS
SMU is ranked No. 8 in the country by United Soccer Coaches (9/24). The Mustangs were ranked No. 2 by Top Drawer Soccer (9/30) and No. 4 by College Soccer News (9/30).Â
PERFECT PONIES
SMU is 8-0-0 for the first time since 2010. The eight straight wins are the best start for an AAC team in the league's history. A win on Tuesday would match that 2010 team who started 9-0-0. The last Mustang team to start its year with 10 straight wins was the 2001 SMU team that won 21 straight matches before losing in the NCAA tournament.Â
HOT STREAK
The Mustangs have won 15 of their last 17 matches, dating back to last season. SMU's last draw came on Oct. 6, 2018 at USF and the last loss was in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Oregon State.
LEADING THE WAY
SMU has played 724 minutes of soccer this season. They have only trailed in four of them - versus Denver on Sept. 21. The Mustangs are outscoring opponents 15-1 in the first half this season - the lone first half goal allowed came on Sept. 2 vs. Houston Baptist. SMU is outscoring opponents 12-2 in the second half.Â
BACKLINE DOMINANCE
SMU's defense has been among the best in the country this season, allowing just three goals through eight matches. SMU's starting backline has a combined 166 starts in their careers, led by Eddie Munjoma (50).Â
PROLIFIC OFFENSE
SMU has scored 28 goals this season, including 15 in the first half. The 28 total goals are the third most in the country behind Clemson and FIU. The Mustangs have shared the wealth offensively, as 10 different players have scored this year, led by Garrett McLaughlin's seven goals. The teams' 80 total points are the third most in the nation, and 26 more than any other AAC team.Â
POURING IT ON
In SMU's recent match vs. Valpo, six Mustangs found the back of the net. It's the first time six student-athletes have scored in one game since a 7-0 win over Central Arkansas in Oct. 2014. SMU has scored six or more goals now twice this season. In the decade prior, SMU netted six or more goals just twice.Â
