SMU track and field heads to Albuquerque and Nashville to compete in the Don Kirby Invite and Music City Challenge Thursday through Saturday.
 
The Don Kirby Invite, hosted by the University of New Mexico begins on Thursday from the Albuquerque Convention Center. The meet will be broadcast live on FloTrack ($). The Mustangs also will be sending a contingent of distance runners to the Music City Challenge competing in the mile, 3000m and 5000m. The Nashville meet hosted by Vanderbilt runs Friday and Saturday.

 
IWUAMADI WINS MUSTANGS' THIRD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS
Chika Iwuamadi became the third Mustang in as many meets to bring home AAC Track Athlete Of The Week honors. The sophomore broke her own school record while competing in the Meyo Invtite up at Notre Dame over the weekend. Iwuamadi ran a 53.52 in the Championship Final to win the event. Her time puts her atop the conference and 17th best in the country.

 
FRANCIS BREAKS SCHOOL, CONFERENCE RECORD
Francis posted the 3rd-best time in the NCAA this season in the 60m final at the G5 Invite with a time of 7.17.  In the process, Francis broke her own school and conference record. Francis has finished in first in every race she has been a part of during the 2020 season. The reigning conference champ in the 60m, Francis was named Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the fourth time in her career after the performance.
 
SMU 4x400 REMAINS PERFECT ON THE SEASON
The 4x400 of team of Whitney Williams, Chika Iwuamadi, Chelsea Francis and Annette Bolomboy recorded the second best time in the conference and second fastest time in program history at the G5 Invite.  The leading SMU squad has placed first at both the Hilton Invite and G5 Invite.   
 
MILLER RETURNS AS CONFERENCE MOST DECORATED INDOOR ATHLETE
Hannah Miller has racked up nine AAC indoor medals in her first three years on the Hilltop. Participating in the 3000m, 5000m and Distance Medley Relay, Miller has contributed to 74 points for the Mustangs at the AAC Indoors. The Invercargill, New Zealand native won a pair of golds in 2018 (3000m and 5000m) and has tallied six silver finishes. Miller's 9-time All-Conference career surpassed Holly Archer, won was all-AAC six times in her SMU career.

FRANCIS, IWUAMADI AND MILLER TOP CONFERENCE PERFORMANCE LIST
Hannah Miller , Chika Iwuamadi  and Chelsea Francis have each posted conference leading times in 2020. Miller recorded an impressive PR at the Season Opener from Boston University back in December. Miller broke the 23-year old school record in the 5000m with a time of 16:06.14. Her time is 10 seconds faster than the next best posted in the conference this season. Miller neared the top of the 3000m leaderboard with the conference's second best time at the Meyo Invite
