Results 

FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) -- SMU had a record-breaking season opener for the 2026 track and field season. Nea Sanders was crowned the new 100-meter hurdle record holder, running 13.10 to take first in the race and break the previous record from 2021. She also achieved the ACC standard for the outdoor championship with her time. 

Macey Hilton also was first across the line in her race – running 4:23.66 in the 1,500. She now sits seventh all-time for SMU in the event. Carolina Correia placed third with 4:34.94. Elizabeth Smits and Ruby Little were close behind in 5th and 6th. 

The 200 brought a slew of personal bests for the Mustangs with two moving into SMU's Top-10 List. Jasmine Franklin now sits seventh all-time with 23.91. Ariana Sutton ran 23.97 to move into eighth in SMU history. Haylie Donovan also came up with a personal best of 24.25. Magnolia Crissup ran 24.86 -- her best time yet. Crissup also ran a new PR time of 56.32 in the 400 to place eighth. 

Elizabeth Smits ran a time of 2:16.87 for a new personal best time. She placed seventh in the field. Paulina Kiscilinska placed tenth with 2:18.75, and Carolina Correia ran a PR time of 2:20.31 for 11th. 

In the 400-meter hurdles, Kirin Chacchia took first place with a time of 58.37 -- achieving the ACC standard in the process. 

The field events rewrote the record books as well. Lotta Edzards added her name to the outdoor books with a jump of 5.96 meters -- putting her seventh all-time in the long jump and making the ACC standard. 

In the javelin, Renee Finke threw 32.30 meters to move into eighth in SMU history. Brentley Preston is now ninth with 25.68 meters. 

In the high jump, Finke placed third with a jump of 1.70 meters and Preston was 11th with 1.55 meters. 

The Mustangs will be back on the track competing at Texas State and Stanford the first weekend of April.
