Keys To Gameday At Ford Stadium
Sep 22 | Football, Tickets
DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU Football is back at Gerald J. Ford Stadium Saturday, as the Mustangs host the SFA Lumberjacks at 6 p.m. Join the Mustangs as they open their home slate on the Hilltop!
Â
In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and approved by the State of Texas and Dallas County, the SMU Department of Athletics has planned for a socially-distanced gameday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The health and safety of all who will enter Ford Stadium is our highest priority.
Â
All fans age three and older will be required to wear a face covering, and we kindly ask you to supply your own. Hand sanitizing stations from Cleaner Lives will be placed throughout the concourse, and fans will see an increased frequency of custodial services for high-touch surfaces and restrooms. Signage promoting recommended public health practices will be visible throughout the venue.
Â
Please note that for the season opener, there will be no Boulevarding or tailgating allowed on campus. This includes the Mustang Club pre-game tailgate within Armstrong Fieldhouse at the Indoor Performance Center. Decisions regarding pregame festivities at other 2020 games will be made at a later date.
Â
Parking for the first home game will open two hours before kickoff and parking passes will be digital/mobile-friendly for a contactless parking experience.
Â
SMU has also transitioned to 100% digital ticketing. Video tutorials on how to download your digital tickets or send them to a friend are available by visiting www.smumustangs.com/digitaltickets. Additional information, if needed, is available by calling the SMU Ticket Office at (214) 768-2904 or emailing tickets@smu.edu.
Â
Fans are asked to download tickets to their mobile wallets before arriving on campus, and are asked to enter the stadium at the gate indicated on their tickets. Club patrons are to enter through the Loyd Center and suite holders and guests are to enter at Gate 2.
Â
Gerald J. Ford Stadium will be reduced to 25% capacity for the 2020 football season. SMU partnered with one of the nation's leading architecture firms to design a socially-distanced seating map that balances the need to distance our patrons while maximizing the number of fans who can enjoy games in Ford Stadium. Once inside the stadium, stickers will indicate which seats are to be used.
Â
Concessions will also be different in 2020, with menus changed to predominantly pre-packaged items for food handling safety and speed of service. Fans will still be able to get their hot dogs, chips, candy, pre-packaged popcorn and pretzels, sodas, water, and PowerAde, and beer will be available at almost all locations to prevent guests from having to stand in multiple lines.
Â
Aramark has also added mobile Grubhub ordering to SMU's concessions offerings. Orders can be placed on a mobile device and picked up at one of our two Grubhub pick-up locations in sections 110 and 118. This will eliminate the need to stand in a line to order food.
Â
Stanchions will help maintain social distancing in concessions lines, and high-touch areas such as condiment locations have been eliminated. All transactions will be cashless, with credit cards, Apple Pay and Grubhub accepted at all locations.
Â
A clear bag policy will again be enforced at Ford Stadium. The only permitted bags are those made of clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC which do not exceed 12 x 6 x 12 inches, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc or similar) or small clutch bags (approximately the size of a hand), with or without a handle or strap. All bags except those approved under the clear bag policy are prohibited. Additionally, all fans will also be subject to security wanding or metal detectors prior to entering the stadium.
Â
All those attending games at Ford Stadium this season are reminded this plan is subject to change. Please revisit SMUMustangs.com for the latest updates and policies.
