SMU women's tennis defeated Abilene Christian 7-0 in both ends of the opening doubleheader on Friday at the SMU Tennis Complex.
 
The Mustangs kicked off the season with a perfect day on the court, winning all 28 sets against the Wildcats. During the performances, the SMU doubles pairings of 
Winslow Huth / 
Claudia Bartolome and 
Chandler Carter / 
Jackie Nylander won two matches apiece.
 
In singles, four Mustangs won their first SMU matches. Transfers 
Chandler Carter and 
Hadley Doyle tallied wins number one in an SMU uniform while freshmen 
Winslow Huth and 
Kiana Graham registered their first collegiate victories.
 
Jackie Nylander began her season on line one with a dominant, 6-0, 6-0 performance in the first match. After winning on line two in the first match, 
Claudia Bartolome moved to line one and won 6-2, 6-4 in the matinee. Senior 
Nicole Petchey won a pair of matches on the day and 
Katherine Jakeway outlasted ACU's Fisher on court six in the second match.
 
Next up, the Mustangs head to Austin to take on the third-ranked Texas Longhorns. The match is slated for Monday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. SMU returns to Dallas for another doubleheader on Jan. 22 against McNeese State.
