ITA Regional Brackets: Singles | Doubles
FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) - Hadley Doyle, Lana Mavor and Jackie Nylander all reached the Round of 16 in singles at the ITA Regional in Fort Worth. The doubles pair of Lexi Keberle and Claudia Bartolome reached the quarterfinal round before falling to the top seed.
Nylander is No. 89 in the ITA rankings and was the No. 7 seed entering the tournament. She swept Blanca Cortijo Parreno from Houston 6-0, 6-2 in the first round and the topped Avelina Sayfetdinova from Texas Tech 6-4, 4-6 [11-9] in the round of 32. Nylander lost a tough match 7-6 (4), 6-3 to No. 110 and the ninth-seeded Alicia Herrero Linana from Baylor, who would knock off the region's top seed in the quarterfinals.
Doyle is ranked No. 112 and was the No. 7 seed in the region. After rallying for a 1-6, 6-0 [10-2] victory against Gabriela Giraldo of Houston in the opener, Doyle dominated a straight set win over Cristina Tiglea of Texas Tech 6-3, 6-0. In the round of 16, Doyle faced No. 67 and fifth-seeded Kylie Collins from Texas, falling 6-3, 6-2.
Mavor opened with a 6-4, 7-5 win versus Saara Orav of Rice in the round of 64. She then rallied to take down the 13th-seeded Gianna Pielet from Texas A&M in a tiebreaker 1-6, 6-4 [10-4] to reach the round of 16. Mavor faced No. 63 and fourth-seeded Margarita Skriabina of Texas Tech, falling 6-0, 6-1.
Keberle and Bartolome had a bye in the round of 64 as the No. 7 seed. They dominated the next two rounds 8-3 against a pair from UTA and 8-1 over a duo from UIW. In the quarterfinal, the Mustang duo pushed the nation's No. 3 ranked doubles pair, Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith from Texas A&M, eventually falling 8-6.
The Mustangs return to action on Oct. 29, splitting for tournaments at Rice and at South Carolina.
