Mustangs Sweep Singles And Doubles Titles At Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge
 
 
DALLAS (SMU) – Jordi Redelijk won the singles title while Kyle Sillman and John Zisette claimed the doubles championship of the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge at the Altec / Styslinger Tennis Complex this weekend.
 
Redelijk won all four of his matches in straight sets, dropping just 10 games in the tournament.  He closed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Stefan Andrei of Midwestern State.
 
In doubles, it was an all SMU championship match. Sillman and Zisette topped the duo of Redelijk and Alex Stafford in a tiebreaker 7-6 (5). Both duos won their quarterfinals 6-3 and went to tiebreakers in their respective semifinals.
 
"This was perfect ending to an already terrific fall season. I'm proud of our four players for their consistency all weekend and executing their game plans during competition. Jordi had a great month as he is really hitting his stride. He played his best tennis in the finals and so happy for him to capture the singles title. Johnny & Kyle have gotten better with each match and so glad they put it all together this tournament. We look forward to wrapping things up for the fall and be very fresh for spring season."

The tournament is named for former SMU coaches Dennis Ralston and Carl Neufeld. Ralston coached at SMU from 1981-89 and 1991-93. He is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and SMU Hall of Fame. Neufeld coached the Mustangs from 1994-2019 and won 420 matches at SMU, which ranks third among all coaches on the Hilltop.
