SMU men's tennis heads to Indianapolis for a Friday doubleheader with matches against IUPUI and Butler.
 
The Mustangs are coming off a 13-day break in play due to cancellations ahead of their trip to Indiana. The Mustangs take on IUPUI in the first match slated for 10:30 CT from Zionsville, Ind. At IUPUI's temporary home venue of Pearson Automotive Tennis Club.  SMU then heads to Butler to face the Bulldogs in a 4 p.m. CT match.
 

SINGLES UPDATE
-Julian Steinhausen leads the Mustangs with seven dual match singles wins during the season. He's currently on a five-match winning streak dating back to Jan. 29.
- Caleb Chakravarthi has a ranked win on the season when he knocked off No. 69 of Oklahoma. The senior captain is 3-4 at line one.  
-Liam Krall has won four matches in a row, winning the matches across lines one and two.
-The Mustangs are 12-5 in third sets this season.
-SMU is 5-1 in supertiebreakers this season. 
-At Line 4 and 5, the Mustangs are 8-4, with all four defeats coming on the road.
-SMU has won four straight matches at both line two and five.
-In every SMU match this season, the line four singles winner has won the dual match.


DOUBLES UPDATE
-Juan Jose Bianchi and Tomas Vaise have paired together to handle line one recently for the Mustangs. The duo has won two of their last three with wins over Wichita State and Oklahoma.
-Huntley Allen and Kyle Sillman are tied for the team lead with four doubles wins a piece.
-Kyle Sillman has a 4-1 record during doubles.
 

ABOUT BUTLER
Butler has just two games under their belt heading into the matchup with the Mustangs. The Bulldogs lost narrowly to Cleveland State before falling to Indianapolis. The team has dominated at their home facilities winning 22 of their last 26 home matches.  Butler is coming off an 11-8 season a 21-7 mark in their last full season.
 
ABOUT IUPUI
The Jaguars are 2-2 on the 2021 season. The two losses came in a doubleheader against Marquette. The Jaguars went 3-10 during the shortended 2020 facing a number of highly-touted programs along the way. Ethan Mardanus-Budio plays the majority of line one for IUPUI while Alex Jochim boasts an unbeaten record on the season (3-0) while playing at lines two and three.
