SMU men's tennis faces two ranked home matches over the weekend as they take on No. 26 UCF on Friday and No. 4 Baylor on Sunday.
 
Beginning a stretch of four matches all against ranked opponents, the Mustangs kick off the short homestand with a conference match against No. 26 UCF at 3 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday at 3 p.m., the Mustangs face the fourth-ranked Baylor Bears for the third time this season, after playing two matches in Waco.
 
The Mustangs have won their last four home matches and have an 11-2 record on the season at the SMU Tennis Complex. Last weekend, the Mustangs split a pair of matches, falling on the road to No. 6 TCU and beating Abilene Christian 4-0 at home.
 
Juan Jose Bianchi and Tomas Vaise entered the ITA doubles rankings at No. 63 on Wednesday. The duo have a 7-6 record on the season, all at line one. The pairing posted a ranked win over No. 38 in the road match against USF.

 
 
SINGLES UPDATE
-Clarke Wilson was named ITA UTR National Player of the Week after a 3-0 week with wins in both of the Mustangs ranked matchups. The award is given to the Division I player whose increase in UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) was indicative of his or her high level performance.
-Wilson has a 9-4 record on the season and has won a team-high seven straight decisions.
-Julian Steinhausen leads the Mustangs with 11 dual match singles wins during the season. He's 9-4 over his last 13 matches.
-Liam Krall has recorded an 10-6 record, the second most wins on the team. The freshman is 10-4 at the top two lines.
-Jordi Redelijk has an 8-4 record on the season including 3-0 at line four.
- Caleb Chakravarthi has two ranked wins on the season when he knocked off No. 69 of Oklahoma and No. 84 Diaz of UTA. The senior captain is 5-7 at line one.  
-The Mustangs are 18-8 in third sets this season.
      -11-4 in full third sets
       -7-4 in supertiebreakers


DOUBLES UPDATE
-The Mustangs have won seven of their last eight doubles points, including two over ranked opponents.
-SMU has recorded a doubles win on at least one line in 18 consecutive matches.
-Playing all line one, the pairing of Tomas Vaise and Juan Jose Bianchi have a 7-6 record with four wins in last six match. The two losses came against top-25 doubles pairings.
- Caleb Chakravarthi and Liam Krall recorded a ranked win over No. 21 in the Mustang matchup with No. 35 USF. The pairing took down Feguson/Luquet, 6-4 to remain unbeaten (3-0) on the season.
-Huntley Allen and Julian Steinhausen have been pairing together of late and have started their partnership with a 4-0 record.
-The familiar partnership of Tomas Vaise and Jan-Simon Vrbsky teamed up for the first time in 2021 in the win over ACU. The pairing pulled out the critical point by fending off three Wildcat set points.
-18 different Mustang doubles pairings have won a match during the dual match season.
 
 
ABOUT UCF
The Knights have a 9-3 record on the season including four wins over team ranked or receiving votes. All three losses have come to teams in the top 13. Gabriel Decamps is the fourth-ranked singles player in the country and has a 10-1 record on the season.  Decamps and Trey Hilderbrand are ranked No. 21 as a doubles pairing . In their last match, the Knights knocked off No. 31 Arkansas with a decisive 6-1 victory,
 
ABOUT BAYLOR
The Bears lead the country with 20 victories during the 2021 season. They have won four in a row to go along with their No. 4 ranking. They have seven top-25 wins on the season. The two teams faced off early in the season with the Bears coming away with a pair of victories. The Bears have three nationally-ranked singles competitors led by No. 9 Matias Soto. Sven Lah and Constantin Frantzen are the 22nd ranked doubles pairing in the country while Soto and Nick Stachowiak are ranked No. 51 and have a perfect 6-0 record.
