SAN ANTONIO (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis played its second tournament of the fall at the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by UTSA this weekend. After going 15-3 combined the first weekend, the Mustangs followed up with seven more wins in the 32-person singles tournament.
 
Jordi Redelijk and Louis Cloud played in Flight A for SMU while Kyle Sillman and Huntley Allen played the Flight B bracket. Cloud dropped his opening match, but won the next two contests in a run to the consolation championship of Flight A. The match when to a tiebreaker before Cloud eventually fell to Karlo Kajin from Louisiana.
 
In Flight B, Allen won his opening match en route to a fourth-place finish. He pushed his final matchup to a tiebreaker before falling to Ivan Smith from UIW.
 
"Tough weekend for sure. Very physical weekend and a great opportunity for us to see where four other players are with their game," said head coach Grant Chen. "I was proud of Huntley for playing four singles and three doubles matches and physically holding up. Louis got better as the weekend went along. Jordi showed some great tennis and so beneficial to get tons of matches in. Kyle played his first singles match in over two years after recovering from an injury. This will help us get better this fall."
 
The Mustangs are in action again next weekend at the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational hosted by Lamar Oct. 1-3.
