DALLAS – SMU men's tennis lost 4-3 this afternoon in an extremely close match against Texas Tech. The Mustangs got off to an early lead, but couldn't hold off the Red Raider's comeback. Adam Neff and Liam Krall put together impressive performances in the losing effort.

SMU came out of the gates firing on all cylinders in doubles. Caleb Chakravarthi and Pranav Kumar broke their opponents in the first and fourth game, and would ultimately go on to win 6-2. Minutes later, Julian Steinhausen and Krall sealed their match to take the doubles point for SMU.

Neff put the Mustangs up 2-0 with yet another dominant performance, handling his opposition in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Krall also played a tremendous singles match, coming back from down 5-2 to win 7-5 in the first set. The sophomore put a vicious backhand return down the line to break and take the 1-0 set lead. He would go on to win the second set 6-3.

Down 3-1 and facing defeat, Texas Tech put together an impressive rally. The Red Raiders took No. 5 and No. 1 singles to tie the match 3-3.

Steinhausen's comeback on court four would eventually fall short, and Texas Tech would take the win 4-3.

The Mustangs are back in action next Friday and Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C. as they compete in a tournament hosted by Wake Forest. They will be facing Notre Dame on Friday at 1:00 PM.
