Five Mustangs Travel To Atlanta For NCAA Championships

ATLANTA (SMU) – Three swimmers and two divers will represent SMU in Atlanta, Georgia, as they compete in the 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships being held at Georgia Tech. The meet will take place March 23rd through March 26th, with Mustangs competing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Colin Feehery, Cotton Fields, and Caleb Rhodenbaugh will be swimming for SMU, while Parker Hardigree and Peter Smithson will be diving.

Colin Feehery
Feehery has put together an outstanding junior year, breaking personal and school records along the way. He won gold in the 400 IM at the conference championships.
- 2nd in school history in 200 IM at 1:44.58
- School record in 400 IM at 3:41.89
- 5th in school history in 200 breaststroke at 1:55.34.
 
Cotton Fields
Fields has shined in his first year with the Mustangs, reaching the NCAA Championships in three events. He won AAC titles in the 200 butterfly and 200 IM. He was also named AAC Freshman of the Year.

- 2nd in school history in 400 IM at 3:43.34
- 3rd in school history in 200 backstroke at 1:42.65
 
Caleb Rhodenbaugh
Rhodenbaugh is in his final year with the Mustangs. He broke his own school record this year in the 200 breaststroke, as well as a school record from 1983 in the 100 breaststroke. He won conference titles in both of these events and was awarded co-Most Outstanding Swimmer by the AAC.

Parker Hardigree
In his senior season, Hardigree won the conference title in 1-meter diving at the AAC Championships. He finished second in 3-meter as well as platform. He also qualified for and competed in the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at 1-meter and 3-meter.
 
Peter Smithson
Smithson is in his junior season with the Mustangs. He won titles in 3-meter and platform at the AAC Conference Championships and was named Most Outstanding Diver. He also competed in the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at 1-meter, 3-meter, and platform.

Prelims will begin at 9:00 AM CT Thursday through Saturday. Finals will begin at approximately 5:00 PM CT Wednesday through Saturday. Races in bold will have at least one Mustang competing in them.

AAC Champs!
The Mustangs brought home their second consecutive team championship at the 2022 AAC Meet. The title was the 43rd in program history and second in The American. The team took gold in 13 individual events and four relays.
Caleb Rhodenbaugh was named co-Most Outstanding Swimmer, Greg Rhodenbaugh was awarded Coach of the Year, Cotton Fields was named Freshman of the Year, Peter Smithson Most Outstanding Diver for the second straight year, and Darian Schmidt was awarded Diving Coach of the Year.
 
Holt Hickman Outdoor Pool Is Coming To The Hilltop
With a $2.5M gift from the Hickman family, SMU will break ground on April 7th for a new eight-lane, 50-meter by 25-yard outdoor pool, with 1- and 3-meter diving boards. The $11M project will also include a 20-foot by 40-foot instructional pool that will be used for lessons and rehab/therapy. The addition of the outdoor pool will complete the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center, making SMU the only University in the country with both indoor and outdoor Olympic pools in one facility, further cementing SMU's swimming and diving facility as one of the finest in college athletics.
