DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 15 SMU women's soccer team resumes its 2022 non-conference stretch on Sunday, as it faces Northwestern State, 7 p.m. at Washburne Stadium.

- SMU is currently No. 15 in this season's most recent United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll (Aug. 23).
- 14th is the highest SMU has been ranked since earning the No. 14 ranking on Oct. 16, 2000.
- SMU was ranked No. 3, the highest ranking in program history, in the final poll at the end of the 1995 season after advancing to the 1995 College Cup, finishing with a 23-1-1 record.

Courtney Sebazco - A Preseason All-AAC selection and MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree - leads the Mustangs with one goal (vs. Rice, Aug. 18) and one assist (at No. 11 Tennessee, Aug. 21) to open the season.
AAC Players of the Week
- Sebazco was named AAC Offensive Player of the Week for a one-goal, one assist performance to open the 2022 season.
- Annen earned Rookie of the Week honors for scoring her first career goal at No. 11 Tennessee.
All-Time Versus NSU
The Mustangs are 3-0 all-time against the Lady Demons, with SMU hosting all three in Dallas. SMU last played NSU to open its 2021 season, defeating the Lady Demons 2-0 at Washburne Stadium. SMU hosted NSU in its 2021 season opener, in which Sebazco scored both goals in the second multi-goal match of her career.
Scouting NSU
- The Northwestern State Lady Demons enter Sunday's match with a 1-0-1 record, last playing to a 1-1 draw at Arkansas State on Aug. 25. Lady Demons' Sam Hanking scored the equalizer against Arkansas State with 15 seconds remaining in the second half to even the match.
- NSU ended its 2021 season with a 12-6-2 record, claiming the program's first Southland Conference Tournament title since 2005 and fourth in program history.
- The Lady Demons were led in 2021 by now-senior forward Draguicevich, who finished second in the nation in game-winning goals (7) and 18th in total goals (13).
- NSU proved a defensive force in 2021, posting the fourth-best shutout percentage nationally (.600), and only allowing three goals against Southland Conference opponents.
Returning Mustangs
- The Mustangs return 20 players from the 2021 season.
- Of the 20 returners, nine saw play time in 2021.
- Returning Mustangs account for 21 of 28 goals scored (75%), 14 of 23 assists made (61%), and 52 of 79 points accrued (66%) throughout the 2021 season.

Coaches Corner
- Nelson spent eight seasons as an Associate Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the Mustangs from 2012-2019 under previous head coach Chris Petrucelli.
- Prior to her time on the Hilltop, Nelson served as head coach at Oklahoma (2007-11), assistant coach under Petrucelli at Texas (2006-07), recruiting coordinator/assistant coach at Baylor (2005), and head coach at Stephen F. Austin (2002-04).
