MEDINAH, Ill. (SMU) – SMU women's golf finished in a tie for ninth at the Illini Women's Invitational on Tuesday from Medinah Country Club.
The Mustangs came into the day in a tie for fifth place at two under. SMU shot a 294 (+6) on Tuesday with strong rounds from
Ellie Szeryk and Ashely Chow. The Mustangs fell into a tie for ninth by the close of the tournament.
Ellie Szeryk led the Mustangs throughout the tournament. She finished in a tie for ninth place after shooting even par in round three. It marked her seventh top 10 finish since starting at SMU in the fall of 2022.
Mackenzie Lee finished in a tie for 40
th. Her best round came in round two where she carded a 69, good for three under par. Lee shot three over in the final round.
One shot back of Lee,
Tess Davenport carded a 74 on the final day to finish in a tie for 45
th at five over par. At six over par,
June Song shot a 75 in round three. Song's week was highlighted by a 69 in round two.
Chow finished the tournament at eight over par in a tie for 60
th. Chow shot a 73 on Tuesday, to move up the leaderboard.
Nicole Vivier represented the Mustangs as an Individual. She finished in 82
nd place.
The Mustangs return to the course for their third tournament of the season, the Jim West Challenge, Oct. 22-23.
