DALLAS (SMU) - SMU quarterback Preston Stone was recognized for his outstanding play this past weekend, picking up several weekly honors across the country by various outlets.
Stone was selected as the National Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for the first time in his career.
He was one of eight quarterbacks chosen by the Manning Award for its "Stars of the Week" honor, also a first in his career.Â
The Dallas native was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Offensive Player of the Week for a second time this year on Monday in a release by the league.
He earned honorable mention honors for the second time this season by the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
Stone continued his stellar year this past weekend, leading the Mustangs to a 69-10 win against Tulsa, keeping them unbeaten in conference games this season at 4-0 and bowl eligible for a fifth straight year with an overall record of 6-2.
The first-year starter turned in a masterful performance in the victory, going 15-for-20 for a career-high 371 yards passing and throwing three touchdowns in just one half. The three passing touchdowns marked his fourth game in 2023 with tossing at least three.
The Mustangs take a trip down to Houston for a meeting with Rice for the Mayor's Cup on Saturday. Kick is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on ESPNU.
