DALLAS- For the first time in three weeks, the Mustangs are back at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex to take on the UTSA Roadrunners.
First serve is at 10:30 a.m. on the outdoor courts and admission is free.
Sunday's match marks SMU's first time back to the home courts since capturing a doubleheader victory over UTRGV and UT Tyler on January 21st.
Following the Mustangs match, the Dallas Open singles finals match will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the doubles finals.
INSIDE THE MATCH
SMU has won 10 straight home matches. The Mustangs are 5-0 in home matches this season with four out of the five matches ending in shutouts. SMU has yet to drop a doubles match at home, going 15-0. SMU holds a 29-1 singles record at home with the only loss coming on Court 1 against UTRGV.
MUSTANG MARK
Pranav Kumar and
Adam Neff hold a 3-1 record at Court 1 in doubles with their only loss coming from the No. 4 ranked team from TCU. The SMU duo is recently coming off an almost historic first round win in the doubles main draw at the Dallas Open against the Sabanov brothers.
Sophomore
Louis Cloud boasts a 6-0 record over the season. Cloud clinched the win for the Mustangs at the last home match with an energetic victory in three sets on Court 6. Cloud picked up two singles wins for the Mustangs at the ITA Kickoff weekend going undefeated throughout the weekend. Since fall 2022, Cloud has gone 14-4.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
UTSA is coming off a 4-3 victory over UT Arlington improving its record to 2-3. The Roadrunners duo, Sebastian Rodrigues and Alan Magadan earned the #6 ITA ranking in fall 2022 for their performance at the ITA Regionals/Nationals.
UTSA finished the previous season in the Conference USA semifinals and achieving its highest team ranking in program history (56).

LAST TIME OUT
The Mustangs traveled to Gainesville, Florida where they took on Mississippi State in the first round of the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend. SMU dropped a 4-3 decision to Mississippi State while picking up the doubles point the match went back and forth in singles until the Bulldogs picked up the final two singles matches in third sets to advance to the championship match.
SMU then faced off with USF in the consolation match where they had another tough 4-3 loss. The Mustangs again picked the doubles point before the Bulls closed in the lead with three straight singles victories. Coming down to the last match, USF would win on Court 5 resulting in the consolation match victory.
