PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. (SMU) - SMU women's golf finished in a tie for 13
th at The Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Tuesday at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Mustangs were led by
Ellie Szeryk and
Mackenzie Lee who both finished in the top 31 of the 82-player field.

Competing against a field that includes 13 teams ranked in the top 40, four top six teams and the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the Mustangs climbed one spot on the tournament's final day. Shooting their best round of the tournament, eight over par, the Mustangs finished in a tie with Illinois at 13
th place. No. 5 Oregon won the tournament with a final score of six over par.

Ellie Szeryk finished in the top third of the field for the fifth time in six tournaments this season. The junior shot a 73 on the final day to finish in a tie for 73. Her time at the tournament was highlighted by an opening round 68.

Mackenzie Lee birdied the final hole of her tournament to finish the day at one-over par. She moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard on the final day into a tie for 31st place. Lee hit the shot of the tournmanet on Monday when she double eagled the 16th hole.

Yunxuan (Michelle) Zhang improved in each round capping her play with a two-over 73. She finished the tournament in a share of 55
th place.
Ashley Chow finished in a tie for 76
th place while graduate senior
Lauren Miller ended the tournament in a tie for 81
st.

The Mustangs return to Texas for their next event, the Icon Invitational. The tournament runs Feb. 27-28 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
