DALLAS- SMU gives Arkansas its second loss of the season in a 4-3 victory Sunday at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex.

Although dropping the doubles points, the Mustangs did not give in as they proceeded to win the next four singles matches to clinch the win.

SMU improves to four straight home match victories and a 5-3 overall record in dual play this season.

"Our team decided after the doubles to leave it all out there on each and every court," said head coach Jeff Nevolo. "It was great to see us compete that way against a very strong Arkansas team."

Arkansas won the doubles point after taking all three courts. Court 1 fell first as Jackie Nylander and Taylor Johnson lost 6-3 to Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink. Courts 2 and 3 finished simultaneously with a 6-4 loss on Court 2 and a 6-3 loss on Court 3 giving the Razorbacks the doubles point.

After a mid-match pep-talk from head coach Jeff Nevolo, the Mustangs came guns blazing to singles play.

Drew Morris tied up the score with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Lenka Stara on Court 4. Morris never faced a break point as she improved to 7-1 in singles play this season.

Hadley Doyle was in the driver's seat the whole first set of her match, winning 6-2. Doyle found herself serving for the match at 5-0 as Kelly Keller had a little bit of fight left in her winning the next three games. On a deciding deuce point, Doyle ran the length of the court to clinch the second set 6-3, giving the Mustangs their first lead of the day.

Moments after Doyle won on Court 1, Lana Mavor was returning serve for match point. Mavor defeated Kacie Harvey 6-4, 6-1 to remain undefeated throughout the season.

All eyes turned to Taylor Johnson on Court 2 to clinch the win for the Mustangs. Johnson faced a similar tale as Doyle after serving for the match at 5-0 and Indianna Spink found some energy picking up the next three games. In a deciding deuce point, Johnson brought a huge first serve which won the second set, 6-4 and clinched the win for the Mustangs.

The remaining two matches would continue to play out on Courts 3 and 5.

Morgan Cross would take Court 5 over Maja Makoric in a second set tiebreaker giving the Razorbacks their second point of the day.

After splitting sets and being up 3-0 on Court 3, Jackie Nylander would find herself on the wrong side of a 6-4 comeback. Carolina Alonso defeated Nylander in three sets which resulted in the third in final point for the Razorbacks.

The Mustangs are looking to continue their home winning streak against Kansas State, February 24th at 3:00 p.m. at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex.
