HUMBLE, Texas (SMU) - Mackenzie Lee finished in fourth place at the Icon Invitational on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston. As a team, the Mustangs moved up the leaderboard on the final day to finish in ninth place.
 
Lee's two-day tournament was highlighted by a record-breaking round two in which she shot nine-under par, the best ever mark by a Mustang. Lee would shoot under par in each of three rounds and finish at 12-under after a 70 on her final day. The fourth place finish is Lee's third top-five showing and fifth time in the top 10.
 
The Mustangs came into the final round in 10^th place at nine-under par. The team shot two-under par on Tuesday to jump Illinois into ninth place. Every team ahead of the Mustangs was nationally ranked. The Mustangs finished six strokes back of a top-six showing.
 
Ellie Szeryk shot five-under in her middle round of the tournament and would finish with a two-over performance. Szeryk finished one-under and in a tie for 30^th place. Yunxuan (Michelle) Zhang had a string of four birdies in five holes on the final day and wound up two-under for the day. She finished in a tie for 41^st. Also in 41^st,

Ashley Chow shot even par in her final round and finished with a final score of one-over par. Lauren Miller shot a 76 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 83^rd. Competing as an individual, Nicole Vivier carded two rounds of 75 and one of 76 and held a share of 74^th place.
 
Next up, the Mustangs return home for the Trinity Forest Invitational. The tournament is slated for Monday, March 6 and Tuesday, March 7.
