DALLAS- SMU visits No. 23 Arizona State on Wednesday in the Mustangs' third dual match versus a top-25 team this season.
 
SMU earned two points in each previous match against a ranked opponent, dropping a 5-2 decision at No. 1 Texas and falling 4-2 against No. 25 Wisconsin in a matchup that was part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
 
SMU arrives to the Grand Canyon State after defeating VCU, 4-0 in the consolation match at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in North Carolina.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH
SMU is 1-2 in matches away from home this season with losses coming from No. 1 Texas and No. 25 Wisconsin in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Mustangs have dominated in doubles play winning three of the five doubles points. SMU holds a 13-7 singles record in dual matches.

MUSTANG MARK
The AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week (Jan. 24) boasts a 5-0 singles record and has yet to drop a set this spring. 
Drew Morris led the Mustangs to wins over Abilene Christian and Incarnate word in their home opener. Morris picked up the Mustangs first victory over No. 1 ranked Texas. Morris added two more wins to her belt over the ITA Kickoff Weekend over Wisconsin and VCU. Since fall 2022, Morris is 17-3 in singles action.
 
Lana Mavor also remains undefeated throughout the 2023 season going 5-0 in singles. Mavor has clinched the singles point in two of SMU's three victories (Incarnate Word and VCU). Mavor picked up the Mustangs second point against No. 1 Texas with a straight set victory at No. 6. The senior has gone 17-3 in singles play in the 2022-23 season.
 
Mavor is also undefeated in doubles with partner 
Hadley Doyle. Mavor and Doyle hold a 4-0 record throughout the season clinching each of the Mustangs doubles point. Throughout the 2022-23 season the duo remains undefeated going 11-0 overall.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
No. 23 Arizona State is coming off a 5-2 defeat over No. 17 San Diego. The Sun Devils hold a 7-1 overall record while going undefeated at home. ASU is well represented in the ITA's preseason top singles and doubles rankings with their top doubles team ranked at No. 9 and three singles players all ranked in the top 100.
 
In the 2022 season, ASU advanced to the Pac-12 tournament finals and made it to the NCAA tournament before falling in the second round to former runner-up, Oklahoma.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Mustangs traveled to Durham, North Carolina where they took on Wisconsin in the first round of the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend. SMU dropped a 4-2 decision to Wisconsin while losing the doubles point before Wisconsin picked up two of the first four completed singles matches.
 
SMU then faced off with VCU in the consolation match where they eased over in a 4-0 victory. The Mustangs picked the doubles point and cruised through three straight singles matches clinching the win.
 
UP NEXT
The Mustangs will take on South Florida Friday, February 17
th at 5:00 p.m. at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex. This will make the first of three straight home matches for SMU.
