DALLAS- No. 47 SMU men's tennis came up short 4-0 in ranked battle with No. 49 Baylor Thursday evening at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex. Four of the six singles matches went to a third set before Baylor clinched the match.

The Mustangs dropped the doubles point and surrendered the next three singles matches leading to the loss.

SMU moves to 11-10 on the season and 11-3 at the Stylsinger/ Altec Tennis Complex.

"What a college match. it had everything in sports and more," said head coach Grant Chen. "Credit to Coach Woodson and Baylor for playing a hard fought much. We dug ourselves a hole after losing the doubles point but I'm so proud of our boys for competing until the very end. It was a special evening with a tremendous crowd. The atmosphere was electric. We will take a few days off to regroup and get ready for conference play. We will be better because of tonight and continue to grow."

Though losing the doubles point, the No. 69 duo of Adam Neff and Pranav Kumar picked up their biggest win to date after taking down the No. 11 ranked tandem of Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz in a comfortable 6-3 victory on Court 1. Neff and Kumar improve to two straight wins together after taking down Tulsa on Mar. 19.

Baylor would strike back on Court 2 after Luc Koenig and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi defeated Jack Winkler and Julian Steinhausen 6-2.

The fate of the doubles point turned to Court 3 where Kyle Sillman and Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo had just broke serve to tighten the Bears lead at 4-3. Momentum would eventually shift back to the Bears as they took the next two games to clinch the match at 6-3 as well as the doubles point.

The Bears quickly made their presence known after taking five first sets. Courts 6 and 4 would go the Bears way in straight sets.

Liam Krall was the first to split sets after a second set tiebreaker loss. Krall's match would go unfinished in a back-and-forth third set where neither player could find a break. Krall remains with a 7-6 overall record this dual season.

No. 64 Adam Neff brought the energy on Court 1. Neff would fall in the first set 6-4. After looking like a comfortable second set victory as Neff was up 3-0, the No. 94 ranked player of Tadeas Paroulek would pick up some momentum as he picked up the next five games. Neff was every bit of efficient as he fended off a potential match-clincher and picked up the second set in a tiebreaker, 9-7. Neff's match would go unfinished tied at 3-3 in the third.

Luc Koenig eventually clinched the match for the Bears after a three-set defeat over Julian Steinhausen on Court 5. Koenig and Steinhausen remained close all match before Koenig went on to win 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to clinch the victory.

Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo and Marko Miladinovic went the distance in their match on Court 3 before left unfinished early in the third.

The Mustangs return to action as they travel to Tampa, Fla. For back-to-back matches against ranked conference opponents. SMU will take on No. 35 Tulane on Apr. 1 at 1 p.m. followed by No. 60 South Florida on Apr. 2 at 1 p.m.
