DALLAS- No. 62 SMU women's tennis earned its second top-45 victory of the season as the Mustangs rallied past No. 41 Denver 4-1 Thursday afternoon at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex. SMU is 8-1 at home this season and has won 11 of its last 12 home matches.

The Mustangs now hold a two-match win streak over the Pioneers after clinching the doubles point and scored three straight singles points to win the match.

"We did a great job coming out aggressive in doubles today. It's the best we have started a doubles point since our match over a month ago against South Florida," said head coach Jeff Nevolo. "We were able to rise to the occasion on numerous courts in the singles in challenging weather conditions. Drew, Jackie, and Lana all took care of the ball and played smart to help us get the win today."

The Mustangs took the doubles point after victories on Courts 1 and 2.

The No. 37 ranked duo of Jackie Nylander and Taylor Johnson joined forces for the first time since taking down South Florida on Feb. 17. The duo appeared to be completely in control on Court 1 after getting out to a quick 4-1 lead. Nylander and Johnson would go on to win the next two games to pick up the first win of the day with a comfortable 6-1 victory.

Hadley Doyle and Lana Mavor then sealed the deal on Court 2. Doyle and Mavor were up 5-2 before Andrea Burguete Beltran and Claudia Velasco responded winning the next two games. Doyle and Mavor would fend off a potential comeback and clinch the match and the doubles point with a 6-4 victory.

The Pioneers very quickly evened play after taking the first match in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory on Court 6.

But the Mustangs turned the contest after rolling three straight singles points with wins on Courts 3, 4 and 5.

Drew Morris wasted no time getting the Mustangs lead back 2-1. Morris looked every bit of dominate after she eased by in a 6-1, 6-3 victory picking up her 10th win of the season.

Jackie Nylander finished moments after Morris' triumph notching SMU's third point after downing Louise Wikander 6-2, 6-3 on Court 4.

Taylor Johnson and Lana Mavor were in a tight race to see who would pick up the match clincher.

Mavor got the nod on Court 5 after defeated Caroline Driscoll 6-4, 6-3 putting her back in the win column and resulting in her 11th win of the season.

The Mustangs will travel to Fort Worth on Saturday to take on No. 56 TCU in the 50th matchup between the two programs at 1 p.m. at the Bartzen Varsity Courts.
