DALLAS- No. 48 SMU women's tennis improves to 6-1 at home after falling to No. 28 Texas Tech and cruising past Richmond, 6-1, in Sunday's doubleheader at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex.
SMU dropped the doubles point against Texas Tech followed by three straight singles matches to give the Red Raiders the victory.
The Red Raiders won the doubles point after winning a tiebreaker on Court 2.
Reka Patel was the first done in singles with a 6-1, 6-2 loss on Court 6.
Lana Mavor was the next match off as she fell 6-3, 6-3 on Court 5. Texas Tech clinched the win after
Taylor Johnson fell on Court 2 6-2, 6-3.
The Mustangs had a much different experience against Richmond. The Mustangs clinched the doubles point and took the next five singles matches all in straight sets.
Hadley Doyle and
Lana Mavor picked up the first win of the evening with a 6-2 victory on Court 2.
Emma Gretzky and
Cambelle Bouchard clinched the doubles point in their debut match with a 6-4 victory in Court 3.
In singles play, the Mustangs moved unwaveringly picking up the next five out of six matches.
Taylor Johnson acted first with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on Court 2 giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.
Drew Morris finished next on Court 4 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Morris is now 9-1 throughout the dual season.

Hadley Doyle extended the Mustangs lead to 3-0 with 6-1, 6-3 victory on Court 1.
Lana Mavor put herself back in the win column after picking up her first loss of the season against Texas Tech. Mavor cruised in a straight set victory, 6-3, 6-3 on Court 6.
Maja Makoric rounded in the final win of the evening for the Mustangs. Makoric picked up her first win of the dual season on Court 5 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
SMU improved to a 7-5 overall record throughout the dual season.
The Mustangs will return back to the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex for another doubleheader against Tulane at 11 a.m. and UT Arlington at 5 p.m.
