DALLAS- SMU returns to action at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex on Friday for a men's tennis doubleheader against Southern Arkansas at 11 a.m. and No. 21 Cornell at 5 p.m.
 
The Mustangs look to expand upon its seven wins at home and look for its second ranked victory since SMU posted a 4-1 victory over No. 54 Old Dominion on Mar. 7.
 
SMU fell to No. 37 San Diego, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex. Julian Steinhausen picked up the lone point for the Mustangs with a straight set victory on Court 5. Steinhausen and partner, Kyle Sillman, picked up the only victory for the Mustangs as well as their first as a pair in doubles with a 6-3 victory on Court 2.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH
SMU gave up its first match at home against No. 37 San Diego. The Mustangs have won 10 doubles points throughout the season.
 
SMU is 2-0 in its matchup against Cornell dating back to the first matchup in 1994.
 
This is the first matchup between Southern Arkansas and SMU.

MUSTANG MARK
Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo and Liam Krall hold a 7-3 overall record in doubles with their losses coming from Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and San Diego. The duo clinched the doubles point for the Mustangs against Old Dominion.

No. 55-ranked Pranav Kumar and Adam Neff hold a 4-4 record at Court 1. The SMU pair picked up their second ranked victory against the No. 47 ITA doubles duo from Old Dominion, 6-1.
 
Julian Steinhausen and Kyle Sillman picked up their first victory as a doubles pairing against San Diego on Court 2, 6-3.
 
Adam Neff holds a 5-2 singles record throughout the dual season and is on a three-match win streak. Neff won on Court 1 for the third week in a row with a three-set victory against Oklahoma State. Neff picked up his first victory in a ranked matchup against the No. 68-ranked player from Ole Miss in straight sets.
 
Sophomore Louis Cloud holds a team high 7-3 record over the season. Cloud improves to three match-clinchers with his most recent victory against Old Dominion on Court 6. Cloud picked up two singles wins for the Mustangs at the ITA Kickoff weekend going undefeated throughout the weekend. Since fall 2022, Cloud has gone 15-7.
 
Adam Neff, Liam Krall, Pranav Kumar, Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo and Julian Steinhausen all have five wins a piece in singles.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Cornell is coming off a 4-2 victory against No. 30 Oklahoma State on Feb. 26 improving to its best start since 2017 with an 11-1 overall record.  
 
Radu Papoe is the lone Big Red player to be ranked at No. 81 in the ITA singles. Papoe is 8-1 in singles this year all at the No. 1 spot.
 
Southern Arkansas has a 2-4 record entering its away match on Wednesday against Tyler Junior College. The Muleriders are in the midst of a two-match losing streak since its 4-3 loss against UT Tyler on Feb. 20.

LAST TIME OUT
SMU men's tennis came up short in 4-1 loss to No. 37 San Diego Wednesday afternoon at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex.

In a matchup that was not shy of energy, the Mustangs fell behind early after dropping the doubles point and the Toreros would go on to win three singles matches to secure the win.
 
UP NEXT
The Mustangs will take on UCF for its first home conference matchup at 2 p.m. The match will be broadcasted on ESPN +. The first 250 fans will receive a free cooling towel from UT Southwestern and the first 150 fans will receive a free meal from Dog Haus.
