WACO, Texas (SMU)- No. 54 SMU women's tennis fell to No. 42 Baylor, 4-1, Monday evening at the Hurd Tennis Center. The Mustangs dropped the doubles point before Baylor won three singles matches, clinching the win. Taylor Johnson extended her win streak to five in a row as she recorded the lone SMU point winning on Court 2: 6-4, 6-1.

Baylor won the doubles point after winning 6-3 on Court 2 over Hadley Doyle and Maja Makoric giving them their second loss of the season. The nation's No. 56 doubles team of Jackie Nylander and Taylor Johnson were the first court off after falling 6-2 on Court 1.

Drew Morris and Lana Mavor were down a break on Court 3 as play was paused.

The Bears went on to take Courts 4 and 6 in straight sets taking a 3-0 lead.

Taylor Johnson won her match in another dominant straight set victory. Johnson and Anita Sahdileva each held serve for the first six games until Johnson got a break at 3-3, where she would later go on to win the first set at 6-4. The second set was all Johnson where she quickly got out to a 4-1 lead then closed out the second set by winning the next two games. Johnson is now on a five-match win streak improving to an 8-4 overall record this season.

The Bears clinched the match on Court 5 moments later ending the other two matches while Hadley Doyle forces a deciding third set after dropping the opening set for the second match in a row and Drew Morris was on serve in the second set after dropping the first set.

The Mustangs will return to the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex for the last time this season on Apr. 14 at 1 p.m. where they will take on No. 25 San Diego.
