DALLAS (SMU)-- SMU had 11 football players named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-American Athletic Conference team, the publication announced.
Earning first-team recognition was offensive lineman
Marcus Bryant and wide receiver
Jordan Kerley.
Bryant made 12 starts in his junior season and was selected to the Pro Football Focus All-AAC second team. The senior was named to the 2023 preseason All-AAC Athlon Sports first team.
Kerley was second on the team with 37 receptions for 588 yards and scored six touchdowns in 2022. Kerley was third on the team with 587 all-purpose yards and was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Honor Roll on November 15, 2022.
Corner back Charles Woods and punter Ryan Bujcevski collected second team preseason honors, and quarterback Preston Stone, tight end RJ Maryland, offensive lineman Justin Osborne and kicker Collin Rogers landed on the third team. Jaylan Knighton, Moochie Dixon and Ahmad Walker earned fourth team recognition.
