DALLAS (SMU) – The Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex is set to host the 2023 Dallas Summer Series presented by the Dallas Open. The tournament has a USTA Pro Circuit prize total of $25,000.
The 32-player draw begins with two pre-qualifying rounds at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Friday. Saturday will follow with the pre-qualifying quarterfinals at 9 a.m., with the semifinals at 12 p.m. The final round will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Seven players of SMU's squad will compete in the pro-level weekend. Juniors Callaway Clark and Liam Krall, sophomores Louis Cloud and Alex Stafford, and graduate student Blaine Hovenier are among the Mustangs' participating returners.
Joining them on the hardcourts are Florida State transfer Maks Silagy and junior Liam Sunkel. Sunkel – who spent the last two seasons as a part of SMU's club tennis program – will officially join Head Coach Grant Chen's team for the 2023-24 season.
Recently graduated and reigning AAC Championship Most Outstanding Player Pranav Kumar will also compete in the weekend's pre-qualifying rounds.
Qualifying rounds occur on July 10-11, followed by main event matches starting Wednesday, July 12. Doubles participants will be determined on July 10 and begin competition the following day.
