ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (SMU) – SMU women's golf climbed the leaderboard in the final round of the Dick McGuire Invite to finish in a tie for fifth on Tuesday from UNM Championship Course.

The Mustangs (+11) came into the final 18 holes of action in a tie for 10
th place among the 16-team field. They quickly gained ground with a final round score of three-under, tied for the second best round on the course. SMU made it all the way to a share of fifth place by the time of the final hole. The Mustangs were the biggest climbers on the leaderboard on Tuesday with their five-place improvement. Pepperdine won the event at 14-under par.

Mackenzie Lee gained ground on the leaderboard with her final round 68. Lee jumped up 12 spots into a tie for eighth place. She carded a 33 on her final nine holes and tallied seven birdies across the day. The finish marked Lee's ninth top 10 finish just 14 tournaments into her collegiate career.

Ellie Szeryk recorded her sixth top-10 finish as a Mustang at the Invitational. Szeryk carded 69 and 71 in her opening round to lead the Mustangs. Her final round of 74 put her in a share of 10
th place.

Tess Davenport carded 73s in the final two rounds to finish in a tie for 50
th. She pulled off a string of 16 consecutive holes without a bogey in the middle of her final round.Â
Ashley Chow gained 17 spots on the leaderboard with an even par final round. She started her day with consecutive birdies on her way to a tie for 54
th place finish.

June Song climbed 17 spots on Tuesday with a 72. She finished in a tie for 66
th place. Competing as an individual,
Nicole Vivier finished in 90
th.

The Mustangs return to the course October 9-10 for the Illini Women's Invitational from Medinah Country Club.
