FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) - SMU women's golf sits in a tie for fourth after two rounds of the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate from Ridglea Country Club.
 
With the two rounds on the docket for Monday, the Mustangs looked to put themselves in a strong position for a final push on Tuesday. SMU shot five-over in round one to sit in a tie for sixth place. They maintained that standing through the majority of round two until the Mustangs rallied late in the round to jump up the leaderboard into a tie for fourth.  The Mustangs (+10) are in a tie with Kentucky (+10) for the fourth spot. They sit just seven strokes back of first place Wake Forest (+3).
 
Sophomore Celine Chen paces the Mustang squad with an even par day in a tie for eighth place. She shot 71 in both rounds. Starting on No. 7 in round one, Chen picked up the pace with back-to-back birdies to close her back nine with a 33. In round two, she birdied three times and moved up four spots on the leaderboard. She will be in search of her first top 10 as a Mustang on Tuesday.
 
Mackenzie Lee sits one shot back of Chen at one-over par. She shot even par in round one with four birdies. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native shot a 72 in round two to find herself in a tie for 11^th. Lee can record her 21^st career top 20 finish with a steady Tuesday.
 
Three Mustangs are tied for 31^st and eight over par. Amelie Kumar rebounded from a tough round one, to shoot below par in round two. She bogeyed just once in the middle round of the tournament on her way to shooting a 70. Emily Odwin shot a 73 in round one followed by a 77 in round two. June Song birdied six times on the day shooting a 74 and a 76.
 
The Mustangs return for another 18 holes with a shotgun start on Tuesday looking to secure a solid finish to their fall campaign.
