DALLAS (SMU) – No. 12 Seed SMU Men's Soccer will host Washington in the second round of the NCAA Championship at Washburne Stadium, Sunday.
The Mustangs earned the No. 12 seed and a first-round bye as announced in the NCAA Selection Show on Monday. This marks the third consecutive season the Mustangs have earned a national seed and a first-round bye.
SMU heads into the tournament with a 10-2-6 record after making the quarterfinal round of its first ACC Tournament.
The Huskies advanced to the NCAA tournament second round on penalties against Seattle U after going 0-0 through regulation and two overtime periods.
Mustangs vs. Huskies
- This match will be the seventh meeting between the Mustangs and the Huskies. It will also be the two teams' first meeting in over a decade.
- The two teams last played each other in Dallas in 1990 when the Mustangs won 2-1.
- Their previous meeting was in Seattle in 2013.
- This meeting will be the first postseason meeting between Washington and SMU.
- All of Washington's eight wins this season were shutouts.

No. 15 SMU Men's Soccer won 1-0 against Boston College to grab their first Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament win at Washburne Stadium.
Bailey Sparks scored the match-winner with his seventh goal of the season. Kyran Chambron Pinho served Sparks' goal from a corner kick for his seventh goal contribution from a set-piece this season.
Cesar Ruvalcaba led the Mustangs' back line to earn their seventh clean sheet of the season.
They were eliminated in the tournament's quarterfinal round on penalties against Wake Forest.
