HUMBLE, Texas (SMU) – SMU women's golf won the Chevron Collegiate by a four-stroke margin on Tuesday at Golf Club of Houston. The Mustangs finished the tournament at 33-under par, the second lowest 54 hole score in program history.

The Mustangs came into the day in a tie for the lead after putting up a 36-hole record of 23-under on day one. SMU quickly distanced itself from the rest of the field with strong early-morning play. The Mustangs would stretch the lead to as many as 12 before finishing the day at 33-under, four strokes clear of second place Maryland. The win marked the Mustangs second of the season after a victory in the fall at the Jim West Challenge. The Mustangs have won eight tournaments over the last two seasons led by head coach
Lauren Mason.

Ellie Szeryk led the Mustangs with a 10-under performance across the two days. She capped off her week with a three-under 69 to finish in a tie for fourth, her ninth top 10 finish since coming to SMU at the start of 2022-23. She posted the fifth score of 10-under or better in SMU history. Her score at the Jim West Challenge remains the lowest ever by a Mustang.

Mackenzie Lee and
Emily Odwin both finished in a tie for sixth place. Lee carded a final round 71 to earn her 11
th top 10 finish as a Mustang and third this season. Odwin, in her second appearance as a Mustang, shot 70 on the final round. She shot 70 or better in every round.
Ashley Chow moved up 24 spots on the leaderboard with a strong round three. Her day began with an eagle on the par-4 350 yard No. 3. She would finish the day with a four-under 68 to finish in a tie for 41
st.
June Song finished in a share of 48
th after a closing round 76. Her best round came on day one, round two when she carded a 69.

The Mustangs return to the course in a week for The Show hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas. The tournament runs March 4 through March 5 from Spanish Trail Country Club.
