TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (SMU) – SMU women's golf finished in fifth place at the Florida State Matchup with
Mackenzie Lee recording a top four showing on Saturday.
The Mustangs came into the final day of the tournament sitting in seventh place. SMU was able to pass Alabama and Nebraska as the Mustangs shot five over 293 on the final day. The best round of the event for SMU came in a three-under performance in round two. The Mustangs finished at seven-over par in fifth place.
Lee led the Mustangs for the fourth time this season with her eight-under performance across two days. She eagled the par five, 505 yard fourth hole to highlight her one-under final day. Lee recorded her 14
th top 10 finish in just 20 career starts.
Emily Odwin registered her third top 10 in her short four-start career on the Hilltop. Odwin finished in sixth for the third straight event. Her best round came with a 67 in the middle round. She shot a 73 on the final day to finish at five-under
Tess Davenport had her best round on the final day with a score of 73. She moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 33
rd.
Ellie Szeryk moved up five spots into a tie for 58
th after a 76 in round three.
Celine Chen finished in a tie for 61
st in her first start in the Mustang lineup.
Competing as an individual,
Ashley Chow carded a 77 on the final day to finish in a tie for 33
rd.
Next up, the Mustangs head to Athens, Georgia for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The tournament runs March 29-30 at UGA Golf Course.
