LAS VEGAS (SMU) – SMU women's golf split the tournament title at the Show with a six-under performance across the two-day tournament. The win marked the Mustangs third of the season and second consecutive.
 
The Mustangs came into the final day trailing UCLA, the third ranked team in the country, by a single stroke. The Bruins and Mustangs went toe-to-toe for the top spot throughout the day. The two teams built a 13-stroke cushion on the rest of the field. SMU led by as many as three at midday before UCLA pulled ahead nearing the end of round three. A flurry of birdies near the end of the round drew the Mustangs even with UCLA at six-under. Head coach Lauren Mason won her 10^th tournament title, tied for the second most by a Mustang coach, a feat accomplished in just three seasons.
 
Emily Odwin led the Mustang squad with a sixth-place performance. In just her third start as a Mustang, Odwin recorded her second top 10 finish. She carded a closing round 69 to move up four spots on the leaderboard.
 
Ellie Szeryk recorded her 10^th top 10 finish of her Mustang career and her fifth of the season in seven starts. Szeryk shot a 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for seventh.
 
Mackenzie Lee also recorded a top-10 finish with her tied for ninth place showing. Lee moved up seven spots on the leaderboard thanks to a final round 69. She has finished in the top 10 in her last three appearances and 13 times in her two-year career.
 
Ashley Chow had her best showing of the season with a 15^th place finish. Chow carded a 70 in the middle round to advance up the leaderboard. She now has seven top-20 finishes in her four years on the Hilltop. June Song vaulted six spots on the leaderboard with a final round 75. She took home a share of 44^th.
 
Competing as an independent and making her Mustang debut, Celine Chen finished in the top half of the field. The freshman carded a 71 in the final round and moved up 24 spots on the day, the highest jump of anyone in the field. She finished in a tie for 37^th.
 
 
The Mustangs return to the course on Friday March 15 for the Florida State Match Up hosted by Florida State from Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
