CSC Academic All-District Men's Tennis List
GREENWOOD, Ind. (CSC/SMU) – Adam Neff,
Julian Steinhausen and
Jerry Barton were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's Tennis Teams, the organization announced Tuesday.
The 2023-24 Academic All‐District® Men's Tennis Teams recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Neff earned singles All-Conference honors for the second year in a row after compiling 9 wins, including a ranked win in SMU's 5-2 defeat over Cal. Neff was named AAC Player of the Week two times in 2024 (Feb. 20, Mar. 12) to boost his career total weekly conference accolades to three. Neff finished the regular season ranked No. 119 by the ITA, reaching as high as No. 96 previously in the year. Neff graduated from SMU with bachelor's degrees in Corporate Communications & Public Affairs and Applied Physiology & Sport Management.
Steinhausen capped off his senior season by earning 11 total doubles wins with primary partners
Huntley Allen and
Maks Silagy. Steinhausen and Allen finished the fall season ranked in the ITA's doubles poll. The senior also earned three singles victories, helping SMU return to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Steinhausen graduated from SMU with a bachelor's degree in Applied Physiology & Sport Management.
Barton posted 12 singles wins in his first season on the Hilltop, one of which coming over a ranked opponent in SMU's battle with Southern California. The sophomore ranked as high as No. 88 in the ITA's singles poll (Feb. 7), and also earned two singles victories with Silagy in the spring.
To be nominated to the CSC Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team, student athletes must qualify as at least an academic sophomore with a minimum 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 70 percent of their program's team events.
