DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU Men's Soccer Team will host no. 6 Saint Louis to resume their 2024 season at 8:30 p.m. CT, Aug. 29.
The Mustangs are coming off a 1-1 tie against Oral Roberts where
Milton Lopez scored the equalizer with his first career goal for SMUÂ on Aug. 25. They are going into Thursday's match with a 1-0-1 record.
Mustangs vs. Billikens
- The Mustangs have played the Billikens 38 times, with SMU leading the series 17-14-7. Their first meeting was in 1975 at Saint Louis.
- SMU has won eight times through 19 matches against SLU in Dallas. The Mustangs won the last two meetings at Washburne Stadium without conceding a goal.
- SMU and SLU have met seven times in the NCAA Tournament. One of which was in the third round. The Mustangs have won three of the postseason meetings with the Billikens.
- Kevin Hudson is undefeated against SLU (3-0-1)
Offensive Dominance
- The Mustangs outshot Air Force 20 to two before outshooting Oral Roberts 17 to seven last week.

The Start of the Season
- The Mustangs started the season 1-0-1.
- The last time SMU started the season with a win and a tie was in 2002 when they ended the season as the Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season champions. That same year, they made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after beating FIU (3-1).
- SMU had dominated possession in the first two matches by outshooting their opponents 37 to nine.
Scouting the Bilikens
- Saint Louis moved up to No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll after their 2-0 win over In-diana on opening day. Matthew Wrobel scored the match-winner.
- Wrobel has scored four goals through eight starts for the Billikens.
- Jeremi Abonnel made three saves to get a clean sheet against Indiana. The Aix-en-Provence, France native has made 12 starts on goal for Saint Louis.

- After week one, the Mustangs received four votes in the United Soccer Coaches Polls.
- Six ACC teams are in the National Top 25 after week one. Clemson remains first, Pitt moved up to no. 3, Syracuse improved to no. 7, Stanford dropped to no. 13, Louisville improved to no. 15, and North Carolina dropped to no. 17.
- ACC Teams receiving votes are Virginia Tech (5), SMU (4), Notre Dame (4) and Duke (2).
Mustangs' Career Firsts
- Milton Lopez scored his first goal for SMU with an equalizer against Oral Roberts, last Sunday.
- Bailey Sparks scored his first penalty kick goal for the Mustangs on opening day.
- Chance Johnson made his first appearance and a clean sheet for SMU on opening day against Air Force.
