DALLAS (SMU) – No. 16 SMU will host FIU for a midweek non-conference match, Wednesday.

The match will be the Mustangs' fifth non-conference match of the season. They are undefeated in non-conference play with a 3-0-2 record this season.

Mustangs vs. Panthers

• This match will be the 22nd meeting between the former American Athletic Conference opponents.
• SMU leads the overall series 18-3 and 7-2 at home.
• Washburne Stadium has only hosted this matchup once, where the Mustangs won 6-4.
• SMU has scored six goals in one match twice against FIU (in 2022 & 2006).
• The Mustangs and Panthers tied 2-2 in Miami last season. Prior to last season's meeting, SMU has won four consecutive matches.

A Friday Night of Firsts

• Daniel Escorcia scored his first goal for SMU to win the match over No. 13 Virginia Tech.
• Owen Zarnick scored his first career goal.
• Kyran Chambron Pinho assisted on both goals to become the first Mustang to make multiple goal contributions in a single match this season.
• Martin Dominguez made a career-high of six saves.
• SMU handed Virginia Tech its first defeat of the season.

United Soccer Coaches Polls

• After week four, the Mustangs were ranked 16th in the United Soccer Coaches Polls.
• This week, six ACC teams were ranked in the top 25, covering the first, second, and third spots. Pitt tops the rankings, followed by Stanford in second place and UNC in third. Clemson (12th), SMU (16th) and Virginia Tech (17th) rounds up the group.
• NC State is the only ACC side just outside the top 25 with seven votes.

NCAA Men's Soccer RPI Rankings

• SMU is ranked 20th in the first NCAA RPI rankings this season.
• Six ACC teams were ranked in the top 20 of RPI rankings. Pitt tops the rankings again, followed by Stanford at ninth place and Virginia Tech at 10th. North Carolina (12th), SMU (20th) and NC State (23rd) rounds up the group.

On A Scoring Streak

• The Mustangs have scored at least one goal in 28 consecutive matches.
• SMU has scored two goals in three straight matches.

Scouting the Panthers

• FIU is 2-4-1 this season and is 0-1 in AAC play.
• The Panthers have a 1-1-1 record against top-25 teams this season. They lost to No. 17 North Carolina (3-1), tied against No. 16 Georgetown (0-0) and won at No. 10 UCF (4-3) in consecutive matches.
• Michael Appiah leads FIU's offense with three goals and Nigel Van Haveren is their main goalkeeper with 36 saves and one clean sheet.
